Where do I see myself going? I have always felt a special connection to the military. I think it is an overlooked career choice for the heroes that have served our country. I feel like I see too many commercials about how our heroes are struggling and it makes me sick to my stomach thinking about how they dedicated their lives to strangers and the public, but we can't do anything in return for them. This is typically where my brain goes when I think about my career as an OT.
Another path in my mind is with the geriatric population. I worked for a year at an assisted living facility that also has a memory care unit and that setting just felt good to me. Caring for Memaws, Nanas, Mimis, Pops, PaPaw and again those that have served our country. I just saw a lot of places where their lives needed help and assistance.
The road for me is pretty wide open, but these are the two options that come to mind when I give a quick answer. I also don't know a lot of places that occupational therapists work at like a burn unit or even stroke patients. My answer could easily be swayed by the time I graduate, who knows.
